Market vendor to remain in custody for making malicious comments

A  market vendor who allegedly made malicious comments about the government, the Prime Minister and the military, was today ordered to remain in custody.
Ram Chandra, 40 applied for bail today however the matter was referred to the Chief Magistrate Usaia Ratuvili.
Chandra is being held at the St Giles mental hospital. Chandra is accused of  trying to disturb the public peace by inciting hatred of any class of person.

Chandra is also an outpatient of Saint Giles hospital.

The matter will be recalled in court on June 19.
