Mociu denies murder charge

Murder accused Sailasa Mociu yesterday pleaded not guilty to one count of murder.

Mr Mociu is accused of killing his wife, Kasaia Veisei Konabou, at her village in Naisaumua, Tailevu, on January 9 this year.

He was represented by lawyer Iqbal Khan.

The matter was called before judge Justice Salesi Temo at the High Court in Suva.

Mr Mociu’s charge was read out to him in court where he said he understood the charge and pleaded not guilty.

Justice Temo allowed time for the prosecution and defence to work out the agreed facts of the case.

The DPP has been told to work out its problem of disclosures.

The matter has been adjourned to August 23.

Mr Khan is expected to file his bail application then.
