Operation Loloma to tackle street begging in Fiji

A task force has been set up to deliberate on the issue of street begging in Fiji.
The Inter Agency Task force is a collaborative network established by government and it is led by the Social Welfare and Poverty Alleviation Ministry and relevant government and non-government organization.It will scrutinize the root causes of begging and identify strategies to assist the marginalized groups of people engaged in street begging. The task force includes the Fiji Police Force, Ministry of Local Government, Suva City Council, Fiji National Council for Disabled Persons, Ministry of Health, Ministry of i-Taukei Affairs and NGO’s.
They have developed a framework called ‘Operation Loloma’.
