Overseas based reps eye Moscow RWC

Nine overseas based players have been included in the 30 member Moscow World Cup 7s squad.

 

The Alifereti Dere coached squad includes Alipate Ratini, Watisoni Votu, Seremaia Burotu, Joeli Lutumailagi, Timoci Matanavou, Vereniki Goneva, Nikola Matawalu, Metuisela Talebula and Waisea Nayacalevu.

France based Lutumailagi said he wants to play for the Fiji 7s team again if given a chance to go to Moscow.

Nikola Matawalu who is expected in the country soon said the right players need to be picked for this important outing.

Former captain Seremaia Burotu is also in the frame and he wants a strong team to play in the World Cup.

Dere had earlier said that only three overseas based players will be brought in.
Sunia Kubu, the younger brother of former national 7s rep Sakenasa Aca and Nadroga’s Ratu Meli Kurisaru are the only new players in the squad.
Players who returned from the last leg of the sevens series are in the squad along with other players who represented Fiji earlier in the series.

 

The squad will march into camp tomorrow  to prepare for the Fiji Bitter Marist 7s.

The Marist 7s will be held next Friday and Saturday.
