The United Front for a Democratic Fiji today said that they will be able to confirm in ten to fourteen days on when they will be submitting their petition against Fiji’s draft constitution.
The UFDF which is made up of three political parties – Social Democratic Liberal Party, the Fiji Labour Party and the National Federation Party – have appointed Mick Beddoes as the group coordinator. Beddoes said they are still gathering signatures.
He added that the government of the day will definitely implement its draft constitution so it didn’t matter whether the petition is handed before or after it is implemented. According to Beddoes, the signatures are people’s views on the constitution and it does not matter when the petition is submitted.
The new constitution will be ready soon.
