New York bound Philipa Steele will take the catwalk at the Fiji Fashion Week in October.

Manager communication Lice Movono-Rova confirmed that Miss Steele, who was chosen ahead of 50 local entrants at the Trump Model Management model search in Suva last month, would be a part of the FJFW.

“We’re really excited to have her back. Philipa is one of our elite models and we’re glad she’s availed herself to be a part of the Fiji Fashion Week again,” Mrs Rova said.

The 16-year-old from Sigatoka has signed a lucrative contract with Trump Model Management and is expected to leave for New York in January next year.

Meanwhile, the FJFW has set aside July 22 for auditions in case they do not find their targeted 40 female models for the annual fashion show.

Mrs Rova said while they were happy to receive great response from aspiring models auditioning around the country, it was hard to get the required number.

“Male models are easier to get than female models because the criteria for them are not as stringent.

“This year the Fiji Fashion Week, for the first time, is strict on age requirement for females and among other things, such as no tattoos and no visible scars on bodies.”

The Fiji Fashion Week will be held from October 1-5.
