A strong wind warning previously in force for all land areas of the Fiji group has been cancelled.

However, damaging heavy swell warning remains in force for all low lying coastal areas of southern and western Viti levu, southern Vanua Levu, Taveuni, Kadavu and nearby smaller islands, Lomaiviti, Lau group, Yasawa and Mamanuca group.

A trough of low pressure to the west is gradually moving eastwards towards Fiji and associated cloud and rain is affecting the group.

An intense high pressure system to the far south of Fiji directs strong southeast winds over the group and heavy southerly swells over Fiji waters.

Periods of rain, heavy at times and squally thunderstorms will be experienced over most places. Rain is expected to ease from the west early Sunday.
