Unwanted Mackintosh set to join Chiefs

Jamie Mackintosh
Unwanted Highlanders prop Jamie Mackintosh appears poised to be one of a number of new acquisitions for the Chiefs next season.

The one-test All Black, who has played 62 times for the Highlanders, has only appeared five times for the bottom-placed side this season.

After falling out of favour with coach Jamie Joseph, it seems Mackintosh has been seen by the defending Super Rugby champs as providing further depth to their front row, with Toby Smith leaving  at the end of the season to join the Melbourne Rebels.

All Black fullback Israel Dagg and fellow Crusader Tom Marshall have also been rumoured to be eyeing a move to the current championship leaders, while Chiefs coach Dave Rennie is confident Sonny Bill Williams will return next  year to the team he helped win the title with in 2012 after one season in the NRL with the Sydney Roosters.
