13 in court for Island confrontation
13 people from Soso village, Naviti Yasawa appeared in the Lautoka Magistrates today in relation to the alleged assault of the owners of a resort on Naukacuvu Island early week.
3 have been charged with assault, 1 with damaging property while others have been charged with criminal trespass.
3 people have also been ordered not to return to Yasawa, while all of them have been released on bail.
16 people were sacked earlier this week by the resort which the workers were not happy with and this led to a confrontation following which police had to be called in.
These workers were terminated as they were inconsistent with their work.
200 workers are currently involved in construction at the resort which will be opening soon.
The case will be called on June 21.
