$86,000 robbery trio remanded in custody

Three men charged with the $86,000 robbery have been ordered to remain in custody at the Totogo Police Station until next Wednesday.
Peni Tukai, Peni Matairavula and Michael Scott have been  charged with two counts of aggravated robbery and one count of theft of motor vehicle.
The trio was arrested in relation to a robbery at the Nand’s Mall car park on Monday during which $86,000 were stolen. A salesman who was on his way to the Westpac bank Nabua branch was robbed off more than $49,000 cash and cheques worth $37,904.65. Police have recovered more than $5,000 so far.
According to police, the suspects threatened the salesman with a kitchen knife and later fled in a taxi which was found abandoned in Nabua.
The trio  will take their plea at the Suva High Court next Wednesday.
