Comodore Voreqe Bainimarama

Prime Minister Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama today told Mick Beddoes that he is wasting his time on collecting signatures for a petition against the draft constitution.

Beddoes, who is part of the United Front for a Democratic Fiji  had said yesterday that they will be able to confirm in ten to fourteen days on when they will be submitting their petition against Fiji’s draft constitution.

The UFDF is made up of three political parties – Social Democratic Liberal Party, the Fiji Labour Party and the National Federation Party.

Beddoes had said that the government of the day will definitely implement its draft constitution so it didn’t matter whether the petition is handed before or after it is implemented. According to Beddoes, the signatures are people’s views on the constitution and it does not matter when the petition is submitted.
