Burotu was top pick for prop, Dere says he is bad in defense

Seremaia Burotu 1
It has been confirmed that Fiji 7s rugby national selectors had ranked Seremaia Burotu as the number one choice prop for the Fiji 7s team for the Moscow Rugby World Cup which will be held later this month.
The Marist 7s player of the tournament was given this ranking based on his performance.
However Burotu was dropped from the 21-man squad which was named by the head coach  Alifereti Dere last Friday.
Joeli Lutumailagi was also dropped from the training squad although he was ranked in the top three for the rover’s position.
Calls are now being made to investigate the team selection process. One of the selectors, Sailosi Naiteqe senior steped down from his position over the weekend, claiming that the selectors were not consulted by Dere before the 12-man team list was sent to IRB last Friday.
The team list sent to the IRB can only be changed if a player is seriously injured or a personal matter arises.

According to Dere he has the final say on the selection as he is the coach. He also said that Burotu is not good in defense that is why he was dropped.

Burotu scored the winning try for the Westfield Barbarians in the semifinal of the Marist 7s against Yamacia. He also set up tries and scored one in the Cup final against Wardens Gold.
