FIJI Bus Operators Association (FBOA) president Richard Lal says they are just as concerned with bus fires as the rest of the public.

Mr Lal has reiterated that passenger safety remains paramount for bus operators.

His comments come in the wake of the latest bus fire earlier today at Laqere in Nasinu.

The bus which was carrying 10 passengers was engulfed in flames while travelling to Suva from Makoi.

“Buses catching fire are as much a worry to bus operators as they are to the general public and we acknowledge that people are looking for an explanation on why these fires are happening,” FBOA president Richard Lal said.

“FBOA is just as baffled as anyone else about this cluster of bus fires and we look to the outcome of the investigations to hopefully provide some answers.”
