Driver charged with abduction

Police have charged a Navua bus driver for the alleged abduction of a 16 year-old female student.

The 29 year old man allegedly picked the student from Navua and both checked in at Saffs Apartment in Robertson Road in Suva. Apartment staff alerted police and the man was taken into custody. The girl was in school uniform.

Police have confirmed that taking any person under the age of 18 years anywhere without the parents or guardians’ consent is considered to be abduction.
