Duo in court over impersonation, theft charge
2 men will appear in the Suva Magistrates Court today for allegedly colluding to steal a consignment of money bound for a Post Fiji outlet in Lau.
The two have been charged with theft while one of the accused has been charged with an additional count of impersonation.
Aman allegedly impersonated a Post Fiji employee and tried to intercept a consignment of money bound for Kabara on a local shipping vessel.
$5,000 worth of cash was in the Post Fiji bag when the suspect who was wearing a Post Fiji uniform informed the staff to hand the bag over to him.
His accomplice a former employee of Post Fiji is alleged to have supplied the suspect the uniform.
Police and Post Fiji staff were alerted of the incident by employees of the shipping company.
