Erianthus hybrid cane confirmed for Fiji

Fiji will now breed new cane varieties in Fiji with sugarcane hybrid ‘Erianthus’ confirmed for the country.

During the world’s first international workshop on Errianthus today, Prime Minister Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama said that the development of new cane varieties is a critical part of the industry.
The hybrid is high in sugar, high in fibre and resilient to common diseases.
