Fiji netball team now known as ‘Fiji Pearls’
The Fiji netball side has received a timely boost ahead of the Pacific Netball Series tournament which starts in Samoa next week.
The national side yesterday secured a naming rights sponsor for the team after signing a contract with The Pearl South Pacific Resort, Spa and Championship Golf Course.
Netball Fiji president Wainikiti Bogidrau said the team would be known as the Fiji Pearls.
She said they were in talks with The Pearl South Pacific for several months, adding the sponsorship was “quite substantial” in terms of scope and funds.
“We are grateful to The Pearl South Pacific for their confidence in us. This sponsorship is a lifeline that should enable us to prepare our team to achieve better results come 2015 World Netball Championship,” Bogidrau said.
“The World Netball Championships in Australia, set for 2015 will also see the completion of the first stage of The Pearl’s new Marina development,” Marletta said.
As part of the sponsorship, the Fiji Pearls will promote the resort as the accommodation of choice for visitors into Fiji by extolling the advantages of this resort which includes its idyllic setting, great services, its championship golf course and proximity to the capital city, amongst other things
Meanwhile the Fiji Pearls will host a two-test netball series against the Malawi Queens in early November.
