Fiji, Russia sign military-technical accord, scrap visas

Russia and Fiji have signed a military-technical cooperation agreement, and accords to combat money laundering and the financing of terrorism, and to cooperate in the health and educational sectors.

The two countries have scrapped visa travel.

This package of agreements was signed after Fijian Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama’s visit to Russia, a Fijian prime minister’s first one, and his talks with Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev.

The Federal Financial Monitoring Service (Rosfinmonitoring) and its partner agency in the Fijian financial intelligence service signed an agreement on cooperation in combating money laundering and the financing of terrorism.

The health ministries have signed a memorandum of understanding. A similar memorandum was signed by the Far East Federal University and the National University of Fiji.
