Fijian soldier dies in Sinai

A Fijian soldier has lost his life while on peacekeeping duties in Sinai in the Middle East.

Military Land Force Commander Colonel Mosese Tikoitoga has confirmed that the incident occurred in the last 24 hours. The RFMF is still trying to determine how the soldier died.

“We’ve had an unfortunate incident in the last 24 hours, one of our junior NCO’s has passed away in the operation, we cannot reveal the name at the moment, because families and relatives have to be informed first, said Colonel Tikoitoga.

“Autopsy is being carried out now in Israel, we will get the full report once that is completed. Our condolences to the family and will await the remains of our soldier to come back and will give him full military honours for the contributions not only to the RFMF but also to the nation.”

Around 600 Fijian soldiers are currently on peacekeeping duties in Sinai.
