First ever safe home for Fiji confirmed

A safe home for women and children affected by domestic violence will soon be built in Nadi.

The first ever safe house will be built in partnership with the Greek Orthodox Church in Fiji.

The home will provide refuge for those women and children who do not have a place to turn for help during cases of domestic violence.

The home will also provide educational assistance and other development programs for children.

A recent national research on women’s health and life experience in Fiji conducted by the Fiji Womens Crisis Centre revealed that of the 3,193 women surveyed in all the four divisions, 72% of women have been through some form of violence in her life.
