Goal keeper plays on despite bullet in his head
A goal keeper in Bosnia has taken shot-stopping to a whole new level by reportedly completing a game with a bullet lodged in his head.
Duško Krtalica, 51, was competing in an amateur game in Sarajevo when he complained of a headache.
Despite this he managed to finish the game but soon began complaining of a stiff arm and was having trouble speaking.
He was rushed to hospital where doctors discovered a 9mm bullet lodged in his skull.
Local police believe the bullet was one of several fired in to the air from a nearby wedding.
Quite how it penetrated Krtalica’s skull without him noticing is the most astonishing, mysterious and downright lucky part of the story.
According to Sarajevo newspaper, Dnevni Avaz, a 42-year-old local man has been arrested in connection with the incident.
As for our brave keeper – he’s reportedly in a stable condition after a successful operation to remove the bullet.
