NZ diplomat’s book says Bainimarama threatened him

A former New Zealand High Commissioner to Fiji has written a book which speaks very undiplomatically about the coup installed military government there.
Michael Green died last year of cancer, but his book, “Persona Non Grata: Breaking the Bond, New Zealand and Fiji 2004-2007” is being launched in Wellington this Thursday.
It alleges that coup leader Commodore Frank Bainimarama personally threatened “to get him” and describes the regime as one characterised by intimidation and thuggery.
Mr Green was declared persona non grata and ordered out of Fiji in 2009.
The speaker at the launch of the book will be the man who was New Zealand foreign minister at the time of the coup, Winston Peters, told Radio AU that its blunt message is needed, given the crisis Fiji is in right now.
