Rapist jailed for 8 years

A 37 year old man who was found guilty of raping a 21 year old woman in 2011 was sentenced to 8 years imprisonment by the High Court judge Justice Salesi Temo today.

It was alleged that on September 22, 2011 at Newtown, Suva the man who had a relationship with the women for 6 months raped her without her consent.

The convict can apply for parole after 6 years.
