Redundancy packages for FHCL 76

76 workers at the Fiji Hardwood Corporation Limited’s Navutu manufacturing yard have been made redundant following the closure of the business.

They will receive redundancy packages.

In a statement, the FHCL board said the Navutu yard and Waivunu sawmill in Serua would soon be advertised for sale by tender.

“The successful purchaser of the property will be encouraged to re-employ the total staff (permanent and temporary) of 76 workers at Navutu and 111 workers at Waivunu sawmill.

“FHCL board assures the affected workers and their families that their welfare is uppermost in its deliberations.”

The company stated that the payments were in addition to the paid leave, accumulated leave and any leave they had already earned.
