Weather warning issued, 2 West schools close

The Nadi weather office has issued a heavy rain warning for most parts of Fiji after a low-lying trough of low pressure located to the west of Fiji caused torrential rain in most parts of the western division this morning..

Students of Ba Provincial Secondary School and St Thomas High School have been sent home due to the bad weather.

A damaging heavy swell alert warning has been implemented for low-lying and coastal areas in certain parts of the country.

Lautoka has been pelted with heavy rain and it has been confirmed that the city bus station and market are under ankle deep water.

In Ba, the temporary bridge across the Ba River is under water.
